THE CAPTAIN'S ROOM is the master bedroom upstairs. It features an antique carved and veneered queen size bed in the style of Daniel Pabst. The Captain's bath has double sinks and a large Jacuzzi tub. You can enjoy your morning coffee in your room or on the balcony facing the Brazos River.
The bed featured in the Captain's Room is a fine example of Daniel Pabst style cabinetry and veneer work. Matching mirrored veneers of burled walnut with dentil work and hand carving create the massive headboard of this queen sized bed. With the increased expense of exotic woods, Daniel Pabst perfected this craft and won a silver medal at the US Centennial Exposition (1876) held in Philadelphia. This is an exemplary piece of American furniture from the last quarter of the 19th century.
